Rasmussen (1/6, likely voters, no trendlines):
Caroline Kennedy (D): 51
Peter King (R): 33
Other: 9
Undecided: 7
(MoE: ±4.5%)
A rather different picture from PPP’s poll earlier in the week, though it’s a bit hard to compare directly since Rasmussen for whatever reason did not also ask about Cuomo. (They also failed to test DavidNYC vs. King.) I am a little mystified about Rasmu’s choice to use a likely voter screen some two years before any election – how can they possibly judge that?
Anyhow, we should finally have our answer as to who the next junior senator from New York will be in a couple of weeks. Can’t happen soon enough.
With that said, I would like Patterson to appoint someone who already has a record of legislative accomplishment.
Some have compared her to Sarah Palin. While I find that comparison insulting, it is however truth in the context of the interviews Kennedy gave over the last few weeks. She sounded less convincing than Palin.
Consider that Palin had the support of millions of redneck voters of average intelligence and managed to get (alongside McCain) 46% of the vote last November; Kennedy has only one voter to convince, David Paterson (the highly educated Governor of New York).
soon to be Caroline Kennedy Townsend, will have a tough fight against Peter King. She may win at the end. NY is more Dem than MD.
I do not understand why we are not selecting candidates who would win these seats easily and retain them in future.
Reminds me alot of people like Brad Carson, Inez Tennenbaum, Michael Steele, Tom Kean, Ronnie Musgrove – seemingly attractive candidates who still got blown away by average opponents in states favoring the other party.
